Mridula Ganesan is a passionate baker and the founder of Hew & frost - a Chennai based home studio for bespoke cakes and confectionary. This sprinkled- covered, sticky-fingered bake-oholic is also a designer, calligrapher and dancer. Her culinary creations are literally works of art - marbled popsicle, Impasto cakes, edible miniature tops on lip-smacking macaroons and cupcakes.
I imagine this 25 year old with a bright smile, plugs on her music and whips up mouth-watering treats everyday, plunging us into her tastefully curated dessert world.

I have worked extensively as a textile designer of home furnishings, mainly for the export market. My designs have been accepted by home furnishing retailers like Coin (France), Madras Link (Australia) and Vallesusa (Italy).
Besides commercial design, I am also interested in hand block printing and experiment with natural dyes and unconventional designs to synthesize western aesthetics with indigenous crafts. Following this, I curated a collection of hand block printed, natural dyed fabric collection titled Metamorphosis, inspired by the works of Escher.
I have worked with Upasana, Auroville in the Varanasi Weaver Project and with NIFT Chennai in the THDC project. These projects involved process design interventions enabling them to expand their product range to cater to a wider market.
